How does SkinPen microneedling work?

Microneedling creates micro-injuries to the skin’s surface, triggering the body’s natural healing response. This stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, two proteins essential for healthy, firm skin.

SkinPen Plus Treatments

For patients who want even better results from their SkinPen microneedling treatments, we offer SkinPen Plus, a treatment that combines the effectiveness of SkinPen with cells derived from your own blood. This skin rejuvenation treatment works to smooth the appearance of lines and wrinkles, improving the appearance of your skin without downtime, enhancing the skin lifting and tightening effects of microneedling.

First, we draw a small amount of blood. We then separate the platelets from the blood, creating a serum that is rich in platelets to enhance cellular regrowth. Second, we apply the serum to the area to be treated then use the SkinPen microneedling device to treat the skin. As the SkinPen works, it creates channels in the skin where the platelets can penetrate the skin and reach the deeper layers. The natural growth factors in the platelets help your skin generate additional collagen and elastin, resulting in smoother, tighter skin. We may apply additional serum to the treated area after the microneedling procedure as well.
